Adrian Jenkins

Adrian Jenkins is the Director of The Bowes Museum since 2001. He has previously worked with the Bolton Museum and Art Gallery and the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. His qualifications include an MPhil in Art History from the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, University of Birmingham, a BA Hons in Ancient History Tasker Milward Comprehensive School; University of Leicester and an MBA from the Bolton Business School. His publications include catalogues such as Expressionism in Germany 1905-1925 (1999); Painters and Peasants: Henry La Thangue and British Rural Naturalism 1880-1905 (2000); (ed) The Road to Impressionism: Joséphine Bowes and painting in nineteenth century France (2002); (jtly) Creative Tension: British Art 1900-1950 (2005); Goya’s Prison: the year of despair,2009; ‘Recent Acquisition’s at The Bowes Museum’, Burlington Magazine, 2012; and various contributions to journals.
