Avani Parikh

Avani Parikh has worked at various scales in the field of architecture and city planning, including healthcare interiors and architecture, mixed-use development, housing, as well as zoning and land use in New York, Palo Alto, and Bombay, through her own practice as well as with firms such as HOK and NYPH. She was Co-Chair of the AIANY Health Facilities Committee, on the Program Committee for the New York Society for Health Planning, and was an advisory consultant on the Fit City 5 Planning Committee for NYC. She served on the academic panel of the K. V. Raheja School of Architecture (Mumbai), was Chair of the Urban Heritage Awards committee, Indian Heritage Society, and formulated an innovative Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) proposal in 1987, working with the D’Souza Committee on Bombay’s Development Plan. She has written for Oculus, Casabella, Design Book Review, and Architecture + Design. She studied at UC Berkeley and CEPT, Ahmedabad.
