Angela Harutyunyan

Angela Harutyunyan is an art historian and curator. She is Associate Professor of Art History and Theory and head of the Art History program at the American University of Beirut. She obtained her PhD from Manchester University in 2009. Her research interest includes theories of art historiography, late Soviet and post-Soviet art, art and labor and cultural politics in the Middle East. She is editor of ARTMargins. Her recent curatorial work includes This is the Time. This is the Record of the Time (with Nat Muller) at SMBA in Amsterdam (2014) and the AUB Art Galleries in 2015. Her book, The political aesthetics of the Armenian avant-garde: the journey of the 'painterly real', is forthcoming with Manchester University Press (2016).
